Bilsthorpe Village Hall will be demolished.
Bilsthorpe Parish Council says they have begun the process to demolish the village hall following a renovation project which uncovered "multiple issues with the building's main structures".
"Further investigations revealed that the cost to rectify these issues, if rectifiable, would be over £500,000 with a potential lifespan of only 20 years, which was deemed unfeasible," the Parish Council said.
The disappointing discovery follows several years of consultations and planning to improve the facility.
In an effort to provide Bilsthorpe with a "new and durable facility for decades to come," the Parish Council says it will work "tirelessly" to secure funding for a new building.
The Parish Council also confirmed that the Heritage Museum will remain in the old Squash Court, behind the village hall, for "the foreseeable future".
