Residents in Newark and Sherwood are being warned about scam text messages, emails, and phone calls from thieves impersonating energy regular Ofgem.
The criminals are stealing banking details by pretending to support people in claiming their £400 energy discount.

The government's £400 discount will be administered by energy suppliers and will be paid to consumers over 6 months with payments starting from October 2022.
"These are energy scams. Ofgem would never sell you energy, ask for personal information or come to your property." said a spokesperson.
If you have given any of your personal information like your bank details, contact your bank immediately for help.
You can also report scams to Action Fraud, the reporting centre for fraud and cyber-crime in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
